3 Positive Covid-19 Cases at Alder Bay Assisted Living Facility, Other Staff and Residents Test Negative

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The Public Health Department announced 3 confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the Alder Bay Assisted Living facility in Eureka.

One staff member and two residents have tested positive for the virus. Three close contacts of the staff member have also tested positive. The staff member called in and reported her own symptoms, was told to stay home, and subsequently tested positive.

The facility consists of 49 residents and 28 staff members. Every single person was tested over the weekend, and public health says all results have come back negative. According to executive director Mark Stephenson, Public Health will re-test all residents and staff in 7 days, and again in 14 days.

Safety precautions that began before the confirmed cases will remain in place. These include staff members wearing personal protective equipment and getting their temperatures checked before entering the building for each shift. All residents have their temperatures checked twice a day.

Public Health will continue to monitor alder bay for the next 2 weeks.
