Humboldt County Correctional Facility Bringing Back Visitations for Inmates

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Correctional Facility is bringing back visitations for inmates, but with some modifications to ensure the safety of correctional officers, inmates, and the public.

Visitation hours may be opening back up, but the number of times people can visit and for how long has been reduced. Visitors are only allowed in during certain times of the day.

On top of the mandatory masking order for all employees working with the public and visitors coming into the jail, people will be required to wash or sanitize their hands then use a disinfecting wipe to sanitize the area before and after the visit. The correctional facility also has a cleaning crew come in twice a day to clean those areas and all commonly touched surfaces.

According to Sheriff Honsal, HCSO is taking all the necessary steps to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Modified visitations will begin on Monday May 18th.
