ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM)– Quick action by the Arcata Fire District limits damage after a Bayside home catches fire.
Firefighters responded around 6:30 last night to a residence on the 17 hundred block of Old Arcata Road. Earlier in the day a contractor was working with string lights which later caused the attic to catch fire. Personnel had the fire contained in just a few minutes. Damage was estimated at $1,400 and the valued saved was over $450,000.
The owner of the home had two sets of working smoke alarms. The fire district reminds residents to have working smoke alarms in their homes.
