Three virtual commencement held for Humboldt State Class of 2020

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM)-Humboldt State University’s Class of 2020 celebrated in a unique way today, with three virtual commencement ceremonies.

HSU broadcasted a video for each college on Youtube, which included messages from students and faculty…as well as a music performance by students, and addresses by several speakers including Humboldt State University’s President, Tom Jackson JR.

More than 2,100 earned credentials, along with bachelor’s and master’s degrees this year and more than 600 have submitted videos to be aired during the celebration.

For those who were not able to watch live, archived videos will be available on the commencement website.

HSU hopes to be able to hold an in-person commencement ceremony, potentially next spring.

However, given the circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic and everyone’s safety, the virtual ceremony will be the first step in recognizing the class of 2020.
