2 New Covid-19 Cases Reported, Updated Shelter in Place Order Issued

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Two new covid-19 cases were reported Wednesday bringing the total to 88. Both cases are under investigation and are not believed to be related to alder bay assisted living.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Frankovich issues an updated shelter in place order allowing additional businesses to re-open once their safety plan is approved.

The modified order incorporates statewide changes made to stage 2 of re-opening, permitting businesses associated with lower risk of Covid-19 transmission to resume operations.

Here are some of the biggest changes: childcare and office work are allowed to reopen once they have a certified business reopening plan, golf, tennis, and volleyball are now allowed, but only if played as singles and not teams, and funeral gatherings of no more than 10 people may resume.

It also outlines factors that will determine how quickly we move through stage 2. These include the capacity of our hospitals and health care system, adequate supply of PPE, testing capacity, and timely contact tracing and case investigations.
