FORTUNA, Ca. (KIEM)-Fortuna residents and business owners worked with the Fortuna “Flags on Main Street Program” to help honor those who fought and continue to protect our country.

A half-mile long display of American flags lined Main Street in Fortuna to honor veterans thanks to the
Fortuna sunrise rotary club.

Local service groups assigned a flag-honoring holiday and are given the task of placing the flags up at sunrise and removing them at dusk.

A commemorative plaque purchased by a family member with an inscription of those veterans who served their country in time of war is on each flag pole.

The exhibition of patriotism is dedicated to the men and women who died while serving in United States military.
