Arcata Expanding Jacoby Creek Forest

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – The city of Arcata is officially expanding one of its popular forests.

Jacoby Creek Forest will receive over 1.5 million dollars and will expand to 114 acres.

The expansion was made possible by funding provided by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Proposition one watershed restoration grant program…Cal fire, the California Natural Resources Agency’s Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation Program, and the Humboldt Area Foundations Forest Fund.

The land that will be acquired is known as the Swaner Property and it will be purchased from the Swaner Family Limited Partnership.

All of this in hopes to protect forestland and wildlife habitat, all while benefiting the community.
