Fortuna and East High School Seniors Will Receive Diplomas Tonight

Fortuna, Ca. (KIEM)-Tonight starting at 8 pm Fortuna and East High Schools graduating class of 2020 will be receiving their diplomas.

What will look more like a festive drive-in movie theater students and their families will be pulling up into the Fortuna High School parking lot in decorated vehicles.

The ceremony will start with prerecorded speeches and congratulation from the administration and fellow students on a 33 foot blow up screen purchased by the high school. After which they will drive through to the stage and receive there diploma.

The administration has been working closely with the Department of Health and Sheriff William Honsal on developing an in-person graduation to celebrate the class of 2020 while keeping everyone safe and following social distancing protocols.

In the first of several graduation ceremonies happening in Humboldt County in the coming weeks they hope everyone has a great time and cooperates.

Fortuna businesses have also been celebrating the senior class by posting pictures of all the graduates from East and Fortuna High Schools and Academy of the Redwoods.
