Hotels Open amid Covid-19, Only for Humboldt County Residents and Essential Workers

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Local hotels are open during the Covid-19 pandemic, but for now, are only accepting Humboldt County Residents and essential workers.

The Sheriff’s Office has asked local tourism leaders to spread the word that out of the area visitors are not welcomed right now, in order to protect the health and safety of North Coast residents.

While the county is asking people not to vacation here, Sheriff William Honsal acknowledges that while California has travel restrictions, neighboring states do not. So, people will be driving through the state to get to their final destination.

While some hotels are allowing guests to stay for a day while driving through, people should not be vacationing or staying for extended periods of time in Humboldt County right now.

According to Honsal, we are along a state highway, and drivers have the right to take a break from driving and rest along the way.
