Dr. Teresa Frankovich speaks on weekend protests and gatherings

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich talks about the pros and cons of people gathering after this past weekend’s protests.

Compared to national coverage of protests, Frankovich believes Humboldt County did a better job at masking and keeping distance.

She finds people demonstrating against injustice while maintaining awareness of fellow residents, encouraging.

Whether or not community members participated in the protests, Dr. Frankovich encourages all Humboldt County residents to get tested at a nearby facility.

And, as the county begins to re-open Dr. Frankovich asks community members to prevent from gathering in large groups for a little bit longer.

With large gatherings in mind, Dr. Frankovich emphasizes the importance in trying to reduce an increase in COVID-19 cases.

She states, if gatherings continue the county will have to rely on residents participating in surveillance testing and contact investigation, quarantine and isolation.
