Sheriff Honsal Discusses State vs. Local Re-Opening Process

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) – Sheriff William Honsal is providing an update for residents on the state’s re-opening process and what it means for us here locally.

Honsal once again stressing that re-opening isn’t just going to happen overnight, but rather is a gradual process. Right now, retail businesses and restaurants have been approved to re-open by the state and that’s trickling down to the local level as more and more places submit re-opening plans as part of the county’s business compliance program.

Guidance has been released for salons and barbershops, and more sectors will be included as we progress through stage 3. While the state is allowing more places to open, Sheriff Honsal wants to remind people that we have local control over the pace of re-opening and that can change depending on our case count.

He also urges those places that aren’t open yet to prepare and get a plan in place. Exact dates for when each sector can open will be released later this week.
