HWY 101 Road Construction

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM)– As more people are out and about with COVID-19 restrictions starting to be eased, you might be noticing lots of road work happening.

Just today on the 101 in the safety corridor the southbound lanes of traffic were restricted to one lane due to related work on bridge replacement at Jacoby Creek.

On the northbound lanes coming out of Eureka improvements are happening near Cole Avenue and both are part of a multiyear project to enhance safety on the six-mile stretch of highway.

Also on the 101 going through Eureka on 4th Street the 9.7 million dollar safety improvement project is in full swing. The expansion from 2 to 3 lanes between V and O Street has started as well as resurfacing of side streets.

Included in this yearlong project is a new traffic signal at L Street, drainage improvement, and A-D-A upgrades to sidewalks and curbs.
