Eviction moratorium extended, non-COVID evictions still allowed

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – Governor Gavin Newsom recently extended eviction moratorium authority.

The order allows local government to extend temporary prohibitions on landlords from evicting tenants for nonpayment of rent and enforced eviction by law enforcement.

Law officials can still enforce non-COVID related evictions. Civil processes have opened through the court system.

Sheriff William Honsal says non-COVID related reasons for eviction are allowed under the public safety provisions.
