MCKINLEYVILLE, Ca. (KIEM)- A local pop-up museum is offering free summer art packs for kids 18 and under to help keep them busy while social distancing and to encourage creativity and promote family bonding, just in time for summer.

The McKinleyville community pop-up museum is located in the McKinleyville shopping center on City Center Road.

Those interested in a free art pack can schedule an appointment through their Facebook page, walk-ins are not accepted at this time.

Each pack includes colored pens or crayons, colored paper, tape, and your basic supplies to create works of art.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, masks or face coverings are required and curbside pickup is in place.

Kelly Garret says her goal is to provide enrichment to local kids and to keep them busy while at home.

For now, there are enough art materials to make about 150 art packs.

The pop-up museum is in need of cash donations and bulk art supplies which garret says will help supply the art bundles to kids throughout the summer.

There also free puzzles and books available to choose from.
