Eureka Police Department releases document outlining use of force policies

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — Eureka Police is giving residents a look at how their policies and department align with the 8 can’t wait platform.

The department released a document looking at their use of force policies, and says most if not all of them directly align with the campaign’s recommendations. In addition, all their officers wear body cameras, something that was adopted back in 20-16.

According to EPD, the department focuses on a community policing mentality and works to serve the most vulnerable. They are also the only local law enforcement agency with a citizen’s advisory panel.
