CHP asks for the public’s help in hit-and-run investigation

MYERS FLAT, Calif. (KIEM) — The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help identifying a driver involved in a hit and run crash that sent two people to the hospital.

Around 2 this morning, a silver GMC pickup truck was traveling North on Avenue of the Giants just South of Myers Flat. The truck collided with a Subaru SUV before overturning and colliding with a power pole.

The occupants of Subaru, Paul Schmollinger and Saundra Stephenson, sustained minor injuries and were transported to Jerold Phelps Hospital. The driver of the truck fled the scene.

Anyone with information that may lead to the identity of the driver is asked to contact CHP Garberville office.
