DMV set to resume behind-the-wheel drive tests

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – For those that have been endlessly waiting to obtain their first-time driver’s license, the time has finally come.

The DMV is set to resume behind-the-wheel drive tests on Friday, June 26 but with new protocols.

All appointments that have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will automatically be rescheduled.

And new test appointments will not be available until canceled tests are completed.

If the customer’s permit has expired, a new online application will need to be filled out prior to their office visit.

Applicants are required to wear face coverings and screening questions will be asked prior to taking the exam.

Although Humboldt County applicants do not have to participate in temperature checks, the protocol will be added statewide within the coming weeks.
