70-year-old man identified as suspect in Eureka bank robbery

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — The Eureka Police Department identifies 70 year old Stephen David Long as the suspect in Tuesday’s bank robbery on 5th Street.

Long was located by detectives around 9 Wednesday morning at a hotel on the 200 block of 5th Street. According to police, Long was taken into custody without further incident.

Long was seen on surveillance video yesterday handing the teller a note demanding money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot. EPD says no weapons were seen or displayed during the incident.

Long was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for robbery and parole violation.
