COVID-19 disproportionately impacting Humboldt County’s Latino community

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – When we talk race and COVID-19, the most dominant effect of the virus in Humboldt County is the disproportionate amount of cases within the Latino community.

Across the country, citizens are talking about concerns regarding COVID-19 disproportionately affecting communities of color.

Public Health Officer Dr. Frankovich says this as a national problem that is not only impacting the number of cases in communities of color, but complications from cases.

Humboldt County Public Health Officials are working to release a dashboard that will include demographics such as race and ethnicity.
