4th of July reminders from Eureka Mayor Susan Seaman

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — With the 4th of July holiday quickly approaching, Eureka Mayor Susan Seaman has some reminders for those celebrating.

Because of Covid-19, the public fireworks show in Eureka was canceled, but families are allowed to have private fireworks. Mayor Susan Seaman reminds community members that for many non-profits and local organizations, their fireworks stands are an important fundraising effort, especially during the pandemic.

Remember, family or household picnics to celebrate are fine at home or nearby areas, but social gatherings with friends are still prohibited. The city is expecting the holiday weekend to draw more visitors from out of the area, and is asking everyone to remember to wear a mask while out in public.

For those looking to get outside and explore, the City of Eureka encourages residents to take advantage of the Eureka Snapchat scavenger hunt. You can check out your favorite locations and look for hidden geotagged Snapchat filters.
