Crews fight small vegetation fire in Eureka

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Earlier this evening local fire departments responded to a vegetation fire near Ryan Creek Community Forest in Eureka.

With Humboldt Bay Fire already at the scene, Cal Fire was dispatched to what was called in as an unknown type fire.

The fire consumed roughly one-eighth of an acre, but engines were on scene for a few hours to ensure flames would not reignite.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
