FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM) – The City of Fortuna has announced Casey Day as the new chief of police. Day replaces Mike Downey who has served as the interim chief of police for the last five months.
Day was selected based on his 19-year law enforcement experience and his education background.
Day received his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Simpson University in Redding and his master’s degree in criminal justice from Arizona State University.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as a police sergeant of the Anderson Police Department in Shasta County.
