PG&E conducting pre-inspection helicopter flights

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM) – Along the north coast, PG&E is conducting pre-inspection helicopter flights to improve its Public Safety Power Shutoff program.

The inspections flights started Monday and are expected to occur through the end of July.

Several helicopters will fly along electric distribution lines located in Humboldt, Mendocino, and Lake Counties to practice response during future PSPS events.

Through Friday, the helicopters are expected to fly roughly 100 feet from the ground between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The pre-inspections help PG&E gather information about safely patrolling during PSPS events, as well as timing when restoring electric services to customers.

PG&E wants to remind residents that power will not be interrupted during the pre-inspections.
