This year’s 99th annual Fortuna Rodeo is cancelled

FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM) –Sad news for rodeo fans, the 99th annual Fortuna Rodeo will not be held this year.

The Fortuna Rodeo Association announced in a statement shared to their Facebook page that the current conditions make it unrealistic to hold even a drastically scaled down event. The rodeo will be back next year for its 100th anniversary.

Earlier in the month, the rodeo had applied with the county to hold limited events for this year, even though county orders are in effect due to Covid-19.

The Board of Directors thanks the community for their support and encouragement.
