Vegetation fire near Burnt Ranch closes State Route 299

TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – Just after 3 p.m. an overturned vehicle creates a small vegetation fire near the Cedar Flat Picnic Area outside of Burnt Ranch in Trinity County.

According to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the fire has reached 100 acres.

As of 6:42 p.m, there are three crews, five tankers, two helicopters and a group of jumpers on scene.

Both lanes of State Route 299 are closed and structures are threatened.

The highway is expected to reopen to one-way traffic control by 8:30 p.m., but traffic control will continue through the night.
