Humboldt Eagles Won’t Fly in Eureka

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – The Humboldt Eagles will no longer compete in Humboldt County during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This news comes after Humboldt County officials notified the Eagles that competition cannot take place within the county due to the pandemic. According to the Eagles, the team will attempt to play elsewhere, as other counties in California and Oregon currently allow for competition.

The Humboldt Eagles released a statement on Facebook in response to the news:

“Today we were notified by Humboldt County officials that we can no longer host any baseball games in Humboldt County. We will fully comply with the order and all home games have been cancelled moving forward. We respect Dr. Frankovich, Sheriff Honsal, and everybody who had the tough job of making this decision. We look forward to the day when baseball returns to Humboldt County. #FlyEaglesFly”
