Dr. Frankovich says smaller gatherings may be to blame for recent Covid-19 cases

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The recent influx of Covid-19 cases is being driven largely by smaller gatherings of people that don’t live in the same household, that’s according to county health officer Dr. Frankovich.

Dr. Frankovich adds that while she’s frustrated with residents that gathered over the holiday weekend, she understands the desire to socialize.

Public Health has fielded multiple calls and knows there are people within the county getting sick or exposed in settings like birthday parties or other family gatherings. There are also concerns of residents leaving the county and coming back exposed, or exposed people from out of the area coming to Humboldt to visit friends or family.

Dr. Frankovich reminds residents the importance of limiting interactions with people outside of their household to help not only the current situation, but also moving forward.
