EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — California Highway Patrol is searching for a driver responsible for a 6 vehicle hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 at the Indianola Cutoff.

It happened yesterday just after 5 pm. According to CHP’s initial investigation, an unknown model, black BMW sedan had reportedly been driving recklessly when the driver lost control and spun out in the roadway.

It didn’t hit any other vehicles, but 5 other cars collided while trying to avoid the BMW. The driver then fled northbound on 101 before law enforcement arrived on scene.

One driver involved suffered a major injury and another suffered a minor injury. Both were transported to St. Joseph Hospital for further evaluation.
