Family of stabbing victim offers reward for info that leads to arrest of son’s attacker

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)-The mother of the man stabbed under the Samoa Bridge wants the person who stabbed her son arrested, and there’s a one-thousand-dollar-reward.

Eureka police are still searching for that man who’s wanted in connection to Wednesday’s stabbing that left her son injured.

Kim Madden says the person who stabbed her son needs to be behind bars.  

“My son didn’t even know who he was, and this guy just come up and did that,” she said. “He tried to stab him in the neck. This man needs to be off the street, he needs to go to jail where he belongs.”

The suspect is described as a 40-year-old white male, 6 foot 4 inches tall with an average build.

He has long brown hair and a beard and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday under the Samoa Bridge.

Police arrived to a man with two stab wounds to the stomach, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The victim told police he was sitting on a bench when he was attacked.

The victim’s mother says her son did not know the victim or the motive behind the attack but said she is grateful to the man that stayed with her son until help arrived.

“I think he’s a hero, and I think he saved my son’s life, and I want to say to that man, thank you for doing that,” said Madden.  “A lot of people wouldn’t.  And he stayed by his side, till the ambulance took him.”

Madden wants the man who stayed by her son’s side to come forward so she can thank him personally.

The family is offering that $1,000 reward to the person who supplies information to law enforcement that helps lead to the arrest of the suspect connected in the stabbing.
