Eureka City Council nomination period now open, 2 seats up for grabs

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — There are 2 Eureka City Council seats up for grabs this November, and the nomination period is now open.

For those interested, the nomination period begins Monday and runs through August 7th. It takes about an hour to review the application material with the city clerk, but due to covid-19, appointments must be scheduled ahead of time.

As far as eligibility, you must be a registered voter and resident of wards 2 or 4. Elected council members receive a monthly stipend of 500 dollars. Regular council meetings are held twice per month with workshops and special meetings held as needed.
