Eureka Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing Gunshots Into Residence

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies respond report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 4600 block of Meyers Avenue.

Upon arrival, deputies located 30-year-old Thomas Augustus Johnston on the front porch near a firearm. Johnston was searched and found to be in possession of two loaded magazines.

According to authorities, Johnston arrived at the residence, pounded on the door, and then shot a round through the front door of the residence.

While investigating the scene, deputies contacted a male victim who was uninjured and had been sheltering inside of the residence during the incident.

Johnston was booked into jail on charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, negligent discharge of a firearm, and disorderly conduct while under the influence. His bail is set at $65,000.
