EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Eureka High School graduate Mo Charlo walks away from a Columbus, Ohio basketball court with thousands of dollars after winning a championship game.

The Eureka native plays on The Basketball Tournament’s million dollar winner-take-all Golden Eagles team that is comprised of predominately Marquette University Men’s Basketball Alumni. However, Charlo is an alum of University of Nevada.

This is the tournament’s 7th appearance, but the Golden Eagles first championship as they fell just shy of the final game last year.

After beating Sideline Cancer 78-73 Tuesday night, the head coach and every player will receive $90,000 and their general manager will receive $80,000.

The basketball tournament is the first team sporting event that has proceeded in the United States since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
