Drive-thru produce distribution in Eureka

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – For the twelfth year, Food for People held a free produce market, although this year it took a different form.

This year, Food for People organized a drive-thru in the Bayshore Mall parking lot. Community members drove up in their cars, popped the trunk, and Food for People delivered the produce. Lines wrapped around the parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community members could pick up produce for up to two households.

Area 1 Agency on Aging also teamed up with Food for People distributing free hand sanitizer and senior information guides to the public while in line. Traditionally, the guides are given out in offices, but this year the organization came up with a more creative way.
