Jäger-Wentworth kicks off campaign for Eureka City Council Ward 2

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Dot Jäger-Wentworth kicked off her campaign at Twenty-Thirty Park in Eureka.

Jäger-Wentworth will be running for Eureka City Council Ward 2. Friends, family, and community members came out to the park to show their support. Those who attended were asked to stand six feet apart and wear masks.

The event consisted of a speech by Jäger-Wentworth and her brother Frank Jäger, former mayor of Eureka. Supporters could pick up campaign buttons and signs at the park. Jäger-Wentworth, longtime resident of Humboldt County, spoke about improving the safety of the second ward in addition to improving the roads and seeking funding for affordable housing.

She also spoke about the 6.4 million dollar grant to renovate Twenty-Thirty Park. Jäger-Wentworth said she hopes it will be a place to gather after the COVID-19 pandemic. Before then, she has the next steps of her campaign. The first is going door-to-door and talking with neighbors in the community.
