Natural gas leak impacts traffic on 4th Street in Eureka

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — Traffic is impacted on a major Eureka roadway after a natural gas leak.

The leak was first reported at the intersection of 4th and N Streets around 11:30 Tuesday morning. Construction crews working in the area struck a half inch natural gas line with a saw. Humboldt Bay Fire and PG&E crews worked together to quickly make the area safe.

According to PG&E, crews were able to completely stop the flow of gas just before 1 Tuesday afternoon and stayed in the area to finish up repairs and restore service. Traffic flow has since been restored.
