Major injury ATV accident leads to medevac

MANILA, Calif. (KIEM) – One person faces major injuries after being transported to the St. Joseph Hospital by helicopter. 

Just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Arcata Fire was dispatched to Manila for a single male patient atv accident.

Samoa Fire, City Ambulance of Eureka, and Cal Fire Copter 102 arrived on scene around the same time and rescue efforts were quickly coordinated to load the patient onto the helicopter.

Before arriving to St. Joseph Hospital, Copter 102 landed at the Manila Community Center to pick up a paramedic who performed advanced life support.

Arcata Fire Battalion Chief says the rescue went smooth and the patient was transported very quickly.

The cause of the incident has not been reported.
