Salvation Army is teaming up with Walmart for this year’s Stuff the Bus school supply drive

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — For the second year in a row, the Salvation Army and Walmart are teaming up for Stuff the Bus, an annual school supply drive. Due to covid-19, this year will look a little different.

Shoppers can buy school supplies either online or in store at Walmart to help local families in need. Collection bins will be placed inside of the store, but to maintain social distancing, there will be no volunteers present this year.

According to the Salvation Army, this year the need is greater than ever with many parents out of work and most kids beginning the academic year with distance learning. Their goal is to relieve a little bit of the burden and give them hope for a successful school year.

All donations stay in the community in which they are given. Stuff the Bus begins August 7th and runs through August 9th at the Walmart store at the Bayshore Mall in Eureka.
