Local man survives 70-foot fall off cliff, Suffered “moderate” injuries

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)-A McKinleyville man is lucky to be alive after he fell 70 feet from Top of the World, off Fickle Hill Road in Humboldt County.  

It took four on duty officers more than three hours to complete the rescue.  

According to photos posted online from Arcata Fire District, visibility and steep terrain made the rescue challenging.  

The 26-year-old man reportedly fell while visiting the rocky area with friends. 

He was taken to the hospital with, according to Arcata fire “moderate injuries”, his current condition is unknown at this time.  

Arcata fire thanked Samoa and Fieldbrook fire on their social media page for providing coverage in their district while they completed the rescue mission.
