Johnson Fire breaks out in Bald Hills area

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – A fire broke out in the Bald Hills area Friday afternoon.

According to CAL FIRE, the Johnson Fire is approximately seven acres. The fire is burning in heavy timber and brush, but is not spreading at a fast rate. A large response was dispatched including eight fire engines, four fire crews, two bulldozers, and four water tenders. The fire is also being fought from the air as multiple aircraft have been deployed.

CAL FIRE expects to contain the blaze Friday evening, but crews are expected to be committed to the incident through the weekend. No communities are currently threatened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
