Vainuku transitions into new role at Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Department

BLUE LAKE, Calif. (KIEM) – At the beginning of the month, David Vainuku was officially sworn in as the new fire chief at the Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Vainuku said the badge pinning ceremony was overwhelming with his family present. He said he feels pride in being able to give back to the community he grew up in. Since the ceremony, Vainuku has been transitioning into the new role.

In addition to learning the administrative side of the job, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it even more of a learning experience. Vainuku said he is ready for the new adventure and detailed the next part of the process. He said he will continue to push the department forward into the future. Vainuku also said he is going to try and do more in the community and neighboring areas, helping to keep everyone safe.
