Red Salmon Complex Fires reach 12, 856 acres

WILLOW CREEK, Calif. (KIEM)- The Red Salmon Complex Fires on the Six Rivers, Shashta-Trinity and Klamath National Forrest have reached a total of 12,856 and at last check is 35 percent contained.

At this time fires are being managed for full suppression and crews are using minimum impact suppression.

The Red Fire has reached 12,049 acres and is 19 percent contained. All fire lines were held and but will continue to be monitored by fire crews. Operations will continue tonight while working on strengthening lines on the western edge of the fires.

The Spot Fire is at three hundred 86 acres and is being slowed down by helicopter using water droplets.

The Salmon Fire  is at 807 acres and is 79 percent contained. The remaining lines of the fire are held. Crews are predicting that this fire along with the Red Fire  will eventually burn together.

Weather in this area has formed light cumulus clouds, and a threat of thunderstorms is expected for tonight. Terrain winds will help to bring down smoke into the canyons and valleys.
