Red Salmon Complex Fire grows to more than 20,000 acres

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Red Salmon Complex Fire has reached more 20,000 acres in the Klamath, Six Rivers, and Shasta-Trinity National Forests. As of Wednesday morning’s update, the fire is a combined total of 20,559 acres and is 42% contained.

The red fire has jumped to 19,752 acres with 42% containment. The main priority remains keeping the footprint of the Red Cap section in the northwest area of the fire. Crews will continue to monitor, patrol, and mop-up any hot spots. Firing operations along High Point Ridge will also continue, as conditions permit.

The Salmon Fire stands at 807 acres and 79% containment. The fire remains within its current footprint. There are 924 personnel fighting the fire. Crews on scene will be transferring command over to the great basin incident management team 5 Wednesday evening.
