Humboldt State University Tests All Student Residents For Covid-19

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – Humboldt State University has tested all student residents for covid-19.

So far, 782 students have been tested and the positivity rate is at 0.82 percent- less than half of Humboldt County’s current positivity rate of 1.68 percent.

One additional non-resident student has tested positive since the weekend after choosing to get tested at the student health center, but that case was not related to residence hall move in.

A total of 6 students have tested positive.

One student that tested positive and one university employee affected by Covid-19 have been released from isolation by the Public Health Department.

The University is currently performing a second round of testing on students and will be releasing updates daily going forward and have contracted with two commercial labs to reduce strain on county resources.

Humboldt State University will work closely with Public Health to ensure campus safety.
