20 new Covid-19 cases reported in Humboldt County since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Public Health Department confirms 20 new cases of Covid-19 since Friday bringing the county’s total case count to 388.

Since last week, 2 more cases have been reported in northern Humboldt, 20 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 7 more cases in southern Humboldt. Six more recoveries and one new hospitalization have been reported as well.

As far as the age breakdown, every age group except people 80 years old or older experienced an increase in cases over the last week. People in their 20’s and people in their 40’s saw the largest weekly increase with both age groups reporting 7 new cases.

Five more cases were reported among people under the age of 20, 4 more cases among people in their 30’s, and 4 more in people in their 50’s. Both people in their 60’s and people in their 70’s reported 1 additional case each.

Right now, health officials are currently monitoring 43 active cases. Of the total cases, 228 had contact to a known case, 88 are travel related, and 51 are a result of community transmission. There are 21 cases under investigation.
