Area 1 Agency on Aging offers Fall Prevention Program

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- Area 1 Agency on Aging is providing a Fall Prevention Program to assist seniors in both Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.

The program will give people the opportunity to make simple fixes to their home while making them safe.

The $143,000 grant was made possible from the legislature.

To begin the process a staff member at the agency will have a person in need on the phone and conduct an assessment.From there they will evaluate the persons needs. If they qualify a contractor will come out to their homes and see what new fixtures the home is in need of.

Some repairs and can include, stairs, bathroom, power cords, lighting adjustments, and outdoor steps.
