HOOPA VALLEY, Calif. (KIEM)-No new COVID-19 cases on the Hoopa Indian Reservation – leaving their total number of confirmed cases at 46.

Three cases remain active with 43 recoveries and 0 deaths.

These numbers are the latest results from K’ima:w Medical Center -where they process between 20-to-30 tests a day – however, mass covid-19 testing clinics began Monday – with the assistance of personnel from FEMA, AB-MED and the CDC.

Angela Goldman works for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and is serving as liaison for Hoopa OES.

“A liaison will be supporting, helping to alleviate any issues that may arise during the mass testing, so we are just going to continue to work with the community, the Counsel, K’ma:w, and with the EOC to facilitate not only a smooth day today, but a smooth day ahead.”

Three testing sites have been erected – Access North was identified as north marshal lane – Access Central, is the neighborhood facilities and Access South is at the Modular Plant.

The temporary locations were chosen to allow access for people throughout the reservation, without transportation.

All essential tribal employees are now mandated by the Hoopa Valley Tribal Council to test.

Free testing will be offered at all three locations between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September 4th – and to avoid congestion – scheduled testing has been set up for essential workers.

Hoopa officials ask that workers stick to their scheduled test date and time – those unable to make the appointment can get tested during community hours.

The hotline is the best way to reach out to the Hoopa Office of Emergency Services for those who have questions, concerns or are in need of supplies. That number is (530) 625-8100
