Firefighter dies while battling August Complex Fire in Mendocino County

MENDOCINO COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – Mendocino National Forest officials have confirmed the death of a firefighter battling the August Complex Fire in Mendocino County.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the firefighter was involved in a vehicle accident while working on the Tatham Fire on August 31.

Two additional firefighters were involved in the accident as well. One of them is receiving medical attention for burns to their hand and arm and the other firefighter did not sustain any injuries.

California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Additional details about the incident will be released as available.
