County officially breaks ground on $2.6 million Garberville Campus Complex

GARBERVILLE, Calif. (KIEM) — Humboldt County officially breaks ground on the new multi-million dollar Garberville Campus Complex Wednesday.

The virtual groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning via zoom and featured a number of guest speakers.

The $2.6 million complex will serve as a more modern, energy efficient community center for southern Humboldt residents. The facility will be close to 5,000 square feet and will feature a library, sheriff’s substation, and conference room.

According to the county, by combining more public services into single locations not only does it save money from utility costs and building maintenance, but the community is also served better by having to travel less distance to access services.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2021.
