ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – Humboldt State University receives a quarter of a million dollar grant to support its newly launched sustainable food systems program La Comida Nos Une, or Food Unites Us.

The four-year, $250,000 USDA grant will help create a new sustainable food systems minor, a new course and support paid student internships.

La Comida Nos Une will focus on the importance of food supply chains, sustainability, intersections with social justice and more.

The program is a collaboration between the university’s three colleges and the grant is supported by the Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants Program.
