Rio Dell seeking signatures for bike trail development petition

RIO DELL, Calif. (KIEM) – The city of Rio Dell is hoping to develop a paved bicycle and pedestrian pathway along the Eel River.

The city is applying for a grant through the State of California’s Active Transportation Program to support the development that would include a new access point for the river bar, educational kiosks and stunning views of the adjacent bluffs.

Rio Dell Mayor Debra Garnes says a biking and pedestrian trail is the perfect addition to help people of all ages experience Rio Dell’s beauty, as well as get some safe exercise.

Garnes encourages any interested community members from all of over Humboldt County to sign the petition, which is in support of the trail development: www.change.org/eelrivertrail.
